Modern 60′s makeup

Classic ’60′s style eye makeup always looks super glam & feminine. During a recent shoot I took a few snaps with my phone to show you a step by step on how to achieve a sexy 60′s eye!

  • I started off by applying a pearlescent white eye shadow over the whole eye area.
  • I ¬†darkened the brows & shaped them into an arch, then I applied a liquid eye liner in black across the top lid, keeping it very close to the lash line. I then flicked the line out at the end of the eye to create a ’60′s style wing. You can make this as dramatic as you like depending on your eye shape & the occasion!
  • Now for some shading- using a small soft brush I filled in the outer corner of the eye lid with a charcoal shadow, blending it softly up onto the crease. I then shaded the crease of the eye with a pinky brown blush to create contour. This also gives the makeup a modern feel, plus it keep the look a bit softer than the traditional 60′s makeup.
  • Next I applied a full set of eye lashes. The secret is to let the glue dry for a minute or so before you attempt to attach the lash. This way the glue becomes more sticky & will adhere more quickly. Once the glue is dry I then add an extra layer of liquid liner along the lash line for more intensity & depth.
  • On the bottom lid I gently smudged a fine line of brown eye shadow to make the eye look bigger. I flicked this out a little to meet the top liner & then drew some white eye pencil along the inner rim & flicked it out to meet the black liner. This was done in the 60′s to great effect as it makes the eyes look huge & really intensifies the white of the eye.
  • On my model Sarah Holder I then added some colour to her cheeks with a soft peach blush & painted her lips with a clear red.
