ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION TIPS

ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION TIPS
Every makeup job begins with a good foundation. Here are a few essential tips to help achieve a flawless finish!
CHOOSING A FOUNDATION
-Always test your foundation colour on your face rather than your hand as the skin on your hand is darker & has a different texture to your face.
-When testing foundation on your face apply it to your jawline & blend well, if the colour you have chosen disappears into your skin, you know it is the correct tone.
-Take care to check your choice of colour in a natural light before you purchase it, as artificial light can give you an inaccurate reading.
-Your face is invariably lighter in colour than your body (particularly in the summer) so dont be afraid to choose a foundation that is a little warmer in colour than your natural skin.
-Finding the right brand of foundation can come down to trial & error, but if you purchase a product only to find that you have made a dreadful mistake, dont be afraid to return it & find an alternative that
works for you.
APPLYING FOUNDATION
-Before you apply your foundation, makeup sure your skin has been well moisturized, as a dry surface will cause makeup to ‘grab’, resulting in a patchy finish.
-You can apply foundation with a sponge or a brush, but the most accessible tool is your fingertips. Skin on skin application gives a natural translucent coverage & makes the blending process easier (& quicker!)
-Using a light liquid foundation, start blending from the centre of the face & gently work outward lightly blending across the cheeks & forehead. Take care to blend out the edges so you cant see where the makeup stops & starts.
-Foundation is a building process, so for areas that need extra coverage, you can gently dab on some extra makeup with a small brush. This particularly applies to covering red veins or pigmentation.
-Foundation is designed to even out the skin tone & add colour- not to create a mask to hide behind. Only apply it where you need it & take care to be light handed to achieve a natural result!
A FEW OF MY FAVES…
A versatile liquid foundation that I love is True Match by Loreal, as its so easy to apply & with 16 tones to choose from, there is a colour to suit everyone. I also love Cliniques ‘Super Balanced’ for its gorgeous creamy texture.
Jane Iredales mineral powder is my personal favorite as I love the way it leaves the skin with a smooth satiny finish, while feeling light & comfortable. I also use Elizabeth Ardens Pure Finish loose mineral powder as I love how it glides so easily over the skin.

  1. Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon
every day. It’s always interesting to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their websites.
