Lately I have been presenting at a series of Style Workshops for Westfield. Last week our show incorporated a makeover winner & as you can see from the dramatic before & after photos, out winner Sophie Petrie was very happy with the results. Here’s how I did it….

  • Sophies skin is beautiful but she has a touch of rosaisia, so I needed to cut the redness back. I started by applying Clinique BB Cream which gave her skin much needed moisture as well as sunscreen & a light coverage. I told Sophie can use this on a day to day basis instead of foundation, as its a quick & easy way to make your skin look great.
  • Next I used Clinique Redness Solutions foundation, which calms the skin while adding a perfect, yet light coverage. I then added a light dusting of Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish mineral powder to cut back shine & make the foundation last.
  • Because Sophie is naturally pale I needed to apply a warm blush to liven up her complexion & add definition to her cheeks. I did this with MAC’s Harmony Blush, one of my favorite blushers ever, as it is the perfect combination of soft brown, pink & peach.
  • I enhanced the brows with a dark brown eye shadow & brushed them up with a touch of hairspray on a dry mascara wand to add lift.
  • On her eyes I kept it simple; The first step was to dust a light creamy coloured base shadow over the whole eye area. I then lined the top lid with a Jane Iredale mineral pencil in Black Brown. I then smudged this line with a warm brown eye shadow, darkening it on the outer corners with a soft charcoal. I added a shimmery taupe to the inner corner to brighten the eye. You can use MAC Mulch, Satin Taupe & Smut eye shadows to create this look.
  • My secret tip is to then apply some blusher through the brow bone as this warms up the skin & opens up the eyes (MAC Harmony, which I used on the cheeks)
  • Then onto the lashes which I pumped up with my favorite Mascara of the moment, Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume
  • Sophie is not used to lots of lipstick but I felt her lips needed some definition against her pale skin. The perfect colour for her was Bobbi Browns Sandwash Pink, a lovely subtle blend of pink & taupe that is never overpowering & so flattering. Then of course a slick of shimmery gloss to finish the look.

When Sophie stepped onto the stage last week the audience gasped with approval, as she looked so stunning, yet natural & fresh. she felt great too, which is always a sign that a makeover is successful! Heads up to my other team members, Jackie O’Fee for the styling & Richard Kavanagh for the hair.
