NEW MAKEUP REVIEWS

Here are a few products that I have been testing out at work, as well as on myself & friends. Its nice to know that something really works before you head out to buy it!

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour

This new lipstick from Bobbi is the perfect combination of intense colour pigment, creamy consistency & a matte finish. Its hard to get all these elements together as most matte lipsticks are very dry & end up looking cakey on the lips. I used shade number 14, ‘HOT’ on the model pictured & I combined it with Bobbis classic ‘Pink’- blush. These shades are a great way to brighten up you skin in winter, just keep your eye makeup neutral & add lots of black mascara. Creamy Matte Lip Colour, RRP $54. The gorgeous above shot is from the latest issue of Bride & Groom magazine, photographed by Neil Gussey.

Clinique ‘Pore Refining Solutions’ Instant perfecting makeup

Anyone who has had their makeup done by me knows what a fan I am of Clinique foundations. during the past six months I have been singing the praises of Even Better makeup, which is the perfect all round liquid foundation for any skin type & I highly recommend it. Pore Refining Solutions  is even more specialized as it targets skin that suffers from large or open pores. In order to conceal pores, foundation needs to be very lightweight in texture, as nothing is more aging (& pore revealing) than heavy makeup. This new formula is feather light, providing a natural finish that really does disguise pores. I have found that it requires very little powder as the finish is more matte than Cliniques other foundations- so its perfect if your skin is on the oily side. When it comes to colour choices take care to test on your face rather than your hand & the right shade will always be the one you cant see! On counter now RRP $64

L’Oreal Paris ‘Youth Code’ BB Cream Illuminator

There are so many BB Creams on the market now that it can get terribly confusing when it comes to choosing the right one for your skin. I have found that several of the cheaper priced BB’s can either look too white or orange on the skin, but not so with L’Oreals latest. The difference with this new BB is that it is also an illuminator, which means it literally adds ‘light’ to your skin. It helps to correct skin irregularity that comes with sun damage, plus provides great coverage that is as good as a light foundation, in fact I have found it to be a more dense in coverage than others BB’s such as Garnier. A friend of mine who wears liquid foundation every day has started using this BB cream instead as she says the coverage is fantastic & it looks dewy & natural. It comes in two shades- medium & light & I have found that the medium shade is perfect for my skin which is very olive toned. You can afford to try this great new product as the RRP is only $20.99

Elizabeth Arden ‘Beautiful Colour’ Lip Gloss

Lizzie Ardens Beautiful Colour range features some gorgeous new blushers (Im loving ‘Terrarose’) & a fab Lash Enhancing mascara, but its their latest lip glosses that I give top marks to. They have a rich & creamy formula that is non-sticky & comforting on the lips- just like a balm. This gloss is infused with conditioning & hydrating ingredients which makes it particularly good right now, as Im finding that everyone is complaining about dry winter lips! Its easy to apply with a soft tipped paddle applicator, plus it has a gorgeous subtle vanilla scent. Im using ‘Latte’ (a shimmery warm bronze) in my kit, as its the perfect compliment to a natural makeup. These glosses are great value too as the tube is a good size & it retails for only $48.

  4. Thanks for your comment Caroline. I have tried Garnier & it is a alot more sheer in texture than Loreal so not so good with coverage. I recommend it for teens just starting to try makeup.
