IDEAS FOR XMAS GIFTS- Part 1

IDEAS FOR XMAS GIFTS- Part 1

Christmas shopping is hard work, as you can waste hours of precious time aimlessly searching for the perfect gift. The secret to good shopping is to have an idea in mind of what you would like to buy before you head off to the malls- that way you can get your shopping done more effectively. Personally, my favorite presents are luxury items that you dont often buy for yourself… things like expensive perfume, scented candles & of course- makeup. I consider myself a pretty good shopper (my friends & family will all agree!) so here is part one of my list of ‘beauty’ gift ideas that may inspire you on your Xmas shopping journey.

LUXURY IN A JAR

A luxurious (& useful!) gift is an expensive face cream… something that you dont buy for yourself due to the hefty price tag. A good quality moisturizer often exceeds the $200 mark, so if you have the budget, a pot of Prevage Night Cream is a fabulous gift for men or women. This gorgeous rich cream really does deliver results, smoothing the skin & helping to fade pigmentation & discolouration. If you are feeling really generous Prevage also do an indulgent body cream & a beautiful eye cream. Im just visualizing a Prevage gift basket…. Then there is the iconic Creme De La Mer, the now legendary moisturizer that has the ability to transform the skin. La Mer also have an extended range that includes a a lighter version of the classic, as well as sunscreen, serum, toner & lip balm. Now theres an Xmas present every woman would love!

NAILS & HANDS

My mum just loves to get hand cream for Xmas, particularly when it comes with an accompanying foot cream. When Im last minute shopping I often Head to L’Occitane (in St Lukes or New Market) as they always have stunning gift boxes at very reasonable prices. Their hand cream is rich & effective, plus the made in France label makes it all the more impressive for the gift receiver. Im also a fan of the Body Shop as everything is so bright & fragrant, plus it wont break the bank! Their Body Butter is a fantastic all round rich moisturizer that comes in lots of different ‘flavours’- I especially love the coconut & always get it for my father as a gift. To make your present of hand cream even more useful, create a gift box with a couple of OPI nail polishes in summery colours, then add a nail file & some cuticle oil for a complete gift of hand care.

CANDLE LIGHT

Candles make the best gifts & you can never have enough of them…. If I had my way I would burn one in every room of the house! At the top end of the market you can head to WORLD Beauty & purchase a Cire Trudon candle for around $150 (see pic) this comes in a gorgeous dark green glass votive that you can reuse afterwards & the different scents available are truly divine. I am also really loving Ecoya candles & their range seems to keep expanding with gorgeous fragrances like Vanilla Bean, Lotus Flower & my favorite, Midnight Orchid. For such great quality Im amazed how they are all priced with the $40-$50 dollar mark. I would also recommend American Voluspa candles from Isabel Harris (around $80) as they have a high oil content which means they burn longer, plus they have lovely Hawaiian inspired scents like Frangipani & Gardenia. And dont forget Tigerlilly - their store in New Market sells stunning resort wear, but they also make gorgeous candles that change flavors each season & they are only about $40.

  1. Great ideas for presents so nice to receive a lovely useful personal gift at any time and not one you have to hide in the cupboard and try to put on a brave thank you face on receiving something that you do not like or would not use…

  2. I personally love to get a gift that is useful!! Thats why candles are so great as you can never have too many. Of course jewellery is also an excellent gift & I love Karen Walker as her silver pieces are very affordable. Yo can get a gorgeous necklace for under $200 x
